Weekly Cotton Market Review
Spot quotations averaged 39 points lower than the previous week, according to the USDA, Agricultural Marketing Service�s Cotton and Tobacco Program.
Quotations for the base quality of cotton (color 41, leaf 4, staple 34, mike 35-36 and 43-49, strength 27.0 - 28.9, and uniformity 81.0 - 81.9) in
the seven designated markets averaged 63.72 cents per pound for the week ending Thursday, July 31, 2025. The weekly average was down from 64.11 cents
last week but up from 59.70 cents reported the corresponding period a year ago. Daily average quotations ranged from a high of 64.69 cents on Monday,
July 28 to alow of 62.86 cents on Thursday, July 31. Spot transactions reported in the Daily Spot Cotton Quotations for the week ended July 31 totaled
3,785 bales.This compares to 4,431 reported last week and 2,046 bales reported the corresponding week a year ago. Total spot transactions for the end
of the 2024-2025 marketing year were 995,781 bales compared to 836,193 at the end of 2023-2024 marketing year. The ICE Oct settlement price ended the
week at 65.61 cents, compared to 67.34 cents last week.

Southeastern Markets Regional Summary
Spot cotton trading was slow. Supplies and offerings were light. Demand was moderate. Average local spot prices
were weak. Trading of CCC-loan equities was inactive. No interest in forward contracting was reported.
A mix of sun and clouds were observed across the lower Southeast during the week. Daytime high temperatures were mostly in the upper 90s. Nighttime lows were
in the 70s. Stray shower activity brought moisture to areas of south Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and south Georgia during the week. Precipitation totals
measured from trace amounts to around two inches of moisture. Producers irrigated fields that missed significant precipitation. The crop advanced under hot
conditions. Producers scouted fields for internal boll damage, and applied insecticides to manage boll feeding bugs. According to the National Agricultural
Statistic�s Services (NASS) crop progress report released July 28, cotton squaring advanced to 93 percent completed in Georgia and 89 percent completed in
Alabama. Boll-setting advanced to 61 percent completed in Alabama and 58 percent completed in Georgia.
Partly to mostly cloudy conditions prevailed across the upper Southeast. Seasonably hot daytime temperatures were in the upper 90s to low 100s. Nighttime lows
were in the 70s. Scattered showers and evening thunderstorms brought moisture to areas of the eastern Carolinas and Virginia. Weekly accumulated precipitation
totals measured around one to two inches, with heavier accumulations recorded in localized areas. The crop progressed well under the hot conditions. Producers
scouted fields and applied insecticides where fields met threshold limits. According to NASS, cotton squaring advanced to 92 percent completed in North Carolina,
88 in Virginia, and 83 percent completed in South Carolina. Boll-setting advanced to 62 percent completed in North Carolina, 44 in South Carolina, and 46 percent
completed in Virginia.
Textile Mill
Domestic mill buyers inquired for a moderate volume of color 41-51, leaf 4, and staple 35 and longer for January through December 2026 delivery. No sales were
reported. No additional inquiries were reported. Mill buyers maintained a cautious undertone as they balanced raw cotton purchases with yarn orders.
Demand through export channels was moderate. Agents for mills throughout the
Far East inquired for any discounted styles of cotton. No sales were reported.
Trading

A moderate volume of color 41 and 52, leaf 3 and 4, staple 35-37, mike 43-52, strength 29-32, and uniformity
80-83 sold for around 68.90 cents per pound, FOB car/truck (Rule 5, compression charges paid).

A light volume even-running lot containing color 31 and 41, leaf 2 and 3, staple 36, mike 40-43,
strength 27-30, and uniformity 81-83 sold for around 67.00 cents, same terms as above.
South Central Markets Regional Summary
North Delta
Spot cotton trading was inactive. Supplies of available cotton were light. Demand was very light. Trading of CCC-loan
equities was inactive. Average local spot prices were weak. There was a very small interest in forward contracting.
Partly cloudy skies characterized the weather pattern during the reporting period. Daytime highs were in the 90s. Nighttime lows were in the
70s. Extreme heat warnings continued to dominate the territory with heat indexes ranging from 107 to 115 degrees. In the Bootheel, an extended
period of dry weather was needed to firm soils. Isolated thundershowers brought hot and humid climatic conditions to the region. Accumulated
rainfall totals measured from trace amounts to around one-half of an inch. Although the dry conditions have been more favorable to the crop,
more rain is needed to replenish adequate topsoil moisture. Early and late cotton has improved and is expected to meet the five-year average.
Fieldwork continued as producers monitored weed growth and plant bug activity in fields. According to the National Agricultural Statistics
Service�s Crop Progress report released on July 28, cotton squaring advanced at 94 percent in Arkansas and 72 percent in Tennessee. In Missouri,
squaring had reached the five-year average at 86 percent. Virtual and in person industry meetings were planned and attended at state and national
levels.
South Delta
Trading of spot cotton trading and CCC-loan equities was inactive. Supplies of available cotton were light. Demand
was very light. Average local spot prices were weak. There was a very light interest in forward contracting reported.
A mixture of cloudy and sunny weather prevailed throughout the reporting period. Daytime highs were in the 90s. Nighttime lows were in the 70s.
Precipitation totals measured from trace amounts to around two and one-half inches of rain. Heat warnings continued with dangerous index values
ranging from 105-120 degrees. Excessive sunshine has improved the crop. Blooms were reported in some locales. More rainfall was needed in the
nearby forecast to restore dryland fields. Heavy irrigation was being done for most outdoor activities. According to the National Agricultural
Statistics Services Crop Progress report released on July 28, cotton squaring neared the five-year average at 90 percent in Louisiana and at 72
percent in Mississippi. Virtual and in person industry meetings were planned and attended at state and national levels.

East Texas-South Texas
Spot cotton trading was slow. Supplies and producer offerings were light. Demand was very light. Average local spot prices were weak.
Producer interest in forward contracting was light. Trading of CCC-loan equities was inactive. Foreign mill inquiries were light.
Interest was best from Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam.
Mainly clear skies and hot temperatures ruled the weather pattern across the East Texas region during the period. Daytime high temperatures persisted in the
upper 90s to the triple-digits, and nighttime low temperatures were in the low-to-mid 70s. Stray showers produced precipitation totals ranging from trace
amounts up to over one-quarter of an inch. Local experts reported increased stink bug presence in fields in the Brazos River Bottoms and treatments were
applied to control populations. Plant growth regulator applications were sprayed in fields. Stands in the Blackland Prairies were at cutout. In South Texas,
showers early in the period were preceded by sunny and partly cloudy conditions. Daytime high temperatures ranged from the 90s to the 100s. Overnight low
temperatures were in the 70s. Accumulated rainfall totals varied by location, but totals ranged from trace amounts up to over three-quarters of an inch of
moisture. Stands in the Upper Coast were reaching the final stages of maturation, and bolls were cracking open across the region. Defoliants were being applied
and final harvest preparations were ongoing in the Coastal Bend. Harvest continued to expand uninterrupted in the lower Rio Grande Valley (RGV). Ginning has
started for a few gins in the RGV and the Coastal Bend, and more gins are preparing to startup soon.
West Texas-Kansas-Oklahoma
Spot cotton trading was slow. Supplies and producer offerings were light. Demand was very light. Average local spot prices were weak.
Producer interest in forward contracting was light. Trading of CCC-loan equities was slow. Foreign mill inquiries were light. Interest
was best from Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam.
In Texas, a mix of sun and clouds prevailed with daytime high temperatures in the mid-80s to low 100s, and overnight lows in the 60s and 70s. Some locations
in the Texas Panhandle received thunderstorms that brought over three and one-half inches of precipitation. More stands were blooming, but progress remained
mixed. Some stands displayed small bolls on the bottom of the plants. Irrigation continued. Dryland stands advanced like the irrigated stands. August rainfall
will be needed. Spray applications contained mixes for herbicide, plant growth regulators, and insecticide. Some stands received fertilizer applications. Insect
populations were mostly light, but scouting continued and some treatments were applied as needed. Meetings were held.
In Kansas, stands advanced with daytime high temperatures in the low 80s to upper 90s, and overnight lows in the 60s and 70s. Thunderstorms brought two to five
inches of beneficial rainfall that caused wells to be rested. Stands continued blooming. Field activity increased where soils were firm enough to support equipment.
Spray rigs that were able to enter fields applied herbicide, and growth regulators. Producers were encouraged for the yield potential of the dryland crop but need
better market prices. In Oklahoma, daytime temperatures were in the low 90s to mid-100s, and overnight lows were in the 70s. Stands advanced and irrigation was a
pplied. August rainfall would benefit the dryland fields and increase yields at harvest. Stands were in early bloom. Scouting for insects continued, but populations
were light. Fertilizer and growth regulators were applied.

East Texas/South Texas

A light volume of color 11, leaf 2, staple 32 and 33, mike averaging 30.9, strength averaging 26.0,
and uniformity averaging 77.4 traded for 56.50 cents per pound, FOB warehouse (compression charges
not paid).
West Texas, Kansas & Oklahoma

In Texas, lots of 2024-crop cotton containing a light volume of color 31 and better, leaf 2-4, staple 35 and 36,
mike 33-43, strength 30-33, and uniformity averaging 80.2 sold for 65.25 to 66.25 cents per pound, FOB car/truck
(compression charges not paid).

A lot of 2024-crop cotton containing a light volume of color 41 and better, leaf 2-5, staple 37, mike 36-49,
strength 30-34, and uniformity averaging 80.5 sold for around 64.50 cents, same terms as above.

Western Markets Regional Summary
Desert Southwest (DSW)
Spot cotton trading was inactive. Supplies and producer offerings were light. Demand was light. Producer interest
in forward contracting was light. Average local prices were weak. No Forward contracting or domestic mill activity
was reported. Foreign mill inquiries were light.
In Arizona, weather conditions were mostly sunny with a few partly cloudy days during the period. Daytime temperatures were in the upper 90s
to the 110s, with nightly lows in the 70s and 80s. Extreme heat warnings were issued. Rain showers produced less than one-quarter of an inch
of moisture in Safford, AZ. In Yuma, the crop was progressing well. Maintenance continued on readying field equipment for harvesting.
Application of defoliants is expected to commence on more mature fields in the next few weeks. In New Mexico and El Paso, TX, sunny to partly
cloudy conditions were prevalent. Daily temperatures were in the lower to upper 90s. Nighttime lows were in the 60s and the 70s. Monsoon activity
brought thunderstorms and rainfall measuring from one to three inches. The moisture was beneficial to the crop as irrigation water is not as
plentiful as previous years. The crop was in good condition. No significant insect pressures were reported.
San Joaquin Valley (SJV)
Spot cotton trading was inactive. Supplies and demand were light. No forward contracting or domestic
mill activity was reported. Average local prices were weak. Foreign mill inquiries were light.
Weather conditions throughout the SJV were clear and sunny. Daytime temperatures were in the 90s, with nighttime lows in the 60s. No rain was reported
during the period. Fields were irrigated. Producers treated fields for insect pressures as needed. Boll setting advanced and the crop was in mostly
good to excellent condition.
American Pima (AP)
Spot cotton trading was inactive. Supplies were moderate. Demand was light. No forward contracting or
domestic mill activity was reported. Average local spot prices were steady. Foreign mill inquiries
were light.
In the San Joaquin Valley, weather conditions were optimal for the crop. Daily temperatures were in the 90s with nightly lows in the 60s. Stands were in full
bloom. Irrigation water was applied. The crop is expected to produce very good yields this year. In Arizona, weather conditions were partly cloudy with daily
temperatures in the 90s to 110s. Nighttime lows ranged from the 60s to 80s. Fields continued to bloom and progressed well. In New Mexico and El Paso, TX,
monsoon activity brought one to three inches of rainfall. Insect pressure was light, and treatments were applied as necessary. The crop progressed well.
