With a market cap of $35.9 billion, Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. (ODFL) is a leading U.S.-based less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier known for its premium service, operational efficiency, and strong on-time delivery performance. The North Carolina-based company operates a nationwide network of service centers, offering regional, inter-regional, and national LTL services.
ODFL set to release its second-quarter results before the markets open on Wednesday, Jul. 30. Ahead of the event, analysts expect ODFL to report a non-GAAP profit of $1.30 per share, down 12.2% from $1.48 per share reported in the year-ago quarter. On the bright side, the company has matched or surpassed the Street’s earnings estimates in each of the past four quarters.
For FY2025, ODFL is expected to deliver a non-GAAP EPS of $5.16, down 5.8% from $5.48 in fiscal 2024. However, in fiscal 2026, ODFL’s earnings are expected to surge 17.6% year-over-year to $6.07 per share.

ODFL stock has declined 6% over the past 52 weeks, significantly underperforming the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 13.4% rise and the Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLI) 22.8% gains during the same time frame.

On April 23, Old Dominion Freight Line surged marginally following the release of its better-than-expected Q1 results. Despite ongoing volume declines due to a sluggish macroeconomic backdrop, the company posted revenue of $1.4 billion, down 5.8% year-over-year but ahead of Wall Street expectations. Profitability came under pressure, with net income slipping 12.9% to $254.7 million, reflecting margin headwinds.
The consensus opinion on ODFL stock is fairly upbeat, with an overall “Moderate Buy” rating. Out of the 21 analysts covering the stock, six recommend “Strong Buy,” one advises “Moderate Buy,” 12 suggest “Hold,” and two advocate a “Strong Sell” rating. The stock currently trades above its mean price target of $166.19.
