Philip Morris' Q2 2025 Earnings: What to Expect

Valued at a market cap of $281.8 billion, Philip Morris International Inc. (PM) is a global tobacco company focused on delivering a smoke-free future. Its product portfolio includes cigarettes and smoke-free alternatives, such as heat-not-burn, vapor, and oral nicotine products under the IQOS and ZYN brands, along with wellness and healthcare items, as well as consumer accessories like lighters and matches.
The Stamford, Connecticut-based company is expected to announce its fiscal Q2 2025 earnings results before the market opens on Tuesday, Jul. 22. Ahead of this event, analysts expect Philip Morris to report an adjusted EPS of $1.84, up 15.7% from $1.59 in the year-ago quarter. The company has surpassed Wall Street's earnings estimates in the last four quarters. In Q1 2025, PM exceeded the consensus adjusted EPS estimate by nearly 5%.
For fiscal 2025, analysts expect the Marlboro maker to report an adjusted EPS of $7.46, up 13.6% from $6.57 in fiscal 2024.

Shares of Philip Morris have jumped 79.7% over the past 52 weeks, outperforming both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 13.6% rise and the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLP) 5.7% return over the same period.

On Apr. 23, shares of Philip Morris International rose 2.4% after the company raised its full-year profit forecast to a range of $7.36 per share to $7.49 per share. The upward revision was fueled by strong performance in its smoke-free portfolio, with U.S. shipment volume of ZYN rising 53% year-over-year in Q1 2025 and continued momentum in the IQOS heated tobacco device. The company also reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.69, exceeding expectations.
Analysts' consensus view on Philip Morris’ stock is cautiously optimistic, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Among 13 analysts covering the stock, eight recommend "Strong Buy," two suggest "Moderate Buy," and three advise "Hold." As of writing, PM is trading below the average analyst price target of $187.17.
